Pain in the lower back region. In medical terminology, the term ‘lumbalgia’ is reserved for pain in the area aligned with the five lumbar vertebrae. For the upper part, the term ‘dorsalgia’ is used, while for the lower part, it is referred to as ‘sacralgia.’ Lumbalgia can be caused by musculoskeletal disorders of the lumbar spine or, more commonly, by conditions affecting the abdominal organs.
